Céjoli is above all a story of workshop, or rather workshop s
A group of craftsmen where creations and achievements are mixed;
An association of professionals able to make the most of downgraded materials, and who manufacture with very few means objects that can compete with those produced by big companies;
Talented people reshaping materials discarded by a world that consumes and no longer repairs,
Men and women who perpetuate timeless know- how with courage and self-sacrifice;
Céjoli Céjoli has been offering, for more than twenty years, through its collections, everyday objects which paradoxically should be at least as much looked at as used:
- Lamps that should be lit,
- Frames that could be framed,
-Chairs that hide under pretty colors (and as best they can) the origin of their materials and the labor force that gave birth to them;
-Useful wooden objects, small works of art by sculptors
-Textiles with abstract patterns from ancestral know-how
- Found objects, encountered objects, gleaned objects
Objects that would like to be understood
Someone wrote a day that:
“Men can only express themselves through forms imprinted in matter”;
It is very beautiful, and we could use this sentence as a definition of our conception of work or of the object;
But as the recycling before being a snobbery was rather based on an economic necessity, we finally preferred the following one which also sums up our approach very well and makes us laugh:
IN AFRICA WE TRUST
Understands who can understands who wants..
